The effects of Changing Results for Young Readers is being felt across the province. Today we would like to share the wonderful work being done on Vancouver Island.
Shawna Wood & Pauline Beckner, from Quadra Elementary, were working together on an inquiry about metacognition and the development of reading strategies last year. They expanded on their inquiry this year by adding in reflection and goal setting with their students. Shawna Wood has documented this process on her blog, found HERE.
The videos, created by pairs of students using iPads, the whole series of videos can be viewed HERE . The students created these videos, acting as teachers, to document and demonstrate the use of reading strategies. Below are a few examples:
